Review on DEWALT DWE6421K Random Orbit Sander by William Dean

I have never owned a power sander. I have never repaired or assembled my furniture. But now I have and I can. I bought this because I wanted to make a custom computer desk out of a piece of Ikea hardwood countertop. The Ikea counter was unfinished and needed sanding down. I tried sanding by hand but the results were not smooth and inconsistent. This grinder changed all that. I spent an hour sanding it with medium grit sandpaper and then fine sandpaper. After the fine sanding, the wood became silky smooth. Then I could tint the color to whatever tone I wanted. The results were amazing and looked super professional. I ended up with a table that looked manufactured because it was so smooth. Also, I was able to sand down some poorly done drywall around my house. With this grinder I feel like I can handle any furniture project. I have so much old furniture that I'm sure I can polish it and make new ones. Is the finish old? I can grind and polish! Don't like the color of some tables? Sand it down and change the stain! The only issue I can single out about this grinder is the noise. It's quite noisy and you need to make sure you're on the street or in an area where the neighbors won't complain. In addition, the suction power of the dust collector is not very good either. A trash can helps a bit, but you'll still have wood and sand dust everywhere. Wireless would be great, but there are downsides to power and charging. ***Update, I also updated a very old coffee table.
