Review on Women's Backpack by Gregory Mountain Products by Adam Quintana

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Waste of money (and time)

This backpack broke very quickly during a 3 week trip to the Sierra. My max weight was under the recommended 35lbs (32lbs to start a 9 day meal transfer and decreased thereafter as I ingested food/fuel, my base weight was 18lbs). On day 3, one of the forklifts broke down. I was able to fix this by using the pack brain connection as a workaround. Then, on day 10, the seams on the backpack's waistbelt began tearing the fabric where it was sewn. For the next 10 days I was very concerned that the entire hip belt would fall apart, which would have been an extremely problematic result. The net of this backpack also has holes, but this is not so important as it does not directly affect the carrying capacity of the backpack. I have a smaller size of this backpack and probably used it for 25-30 nights. and I haven't had the same problems (and my daughter has this pack too and hasn't had any problems although it has been used less). So I figured I was unlucky - that happens - and since I was past the Revain return deadline I contacted Gregory's support team. And here the frustration grew and grew. First, my connection was dropped twice (and apparently on purpose) when I called their number after waiting on the line for more than 20 minutes. Then, after filling out their online form, they tell me to send the package (at my expense) for repair. But I don't want the backpack repaired, I want a refund or credit because the backpack can't do the job it was advertised to do and because of what ripped I know they don't have the fabric just be able to sew and I don't want to spend $30 shipping a package when I'm sure they'll tell me it can't be repaired. So I email customer support explaining all this and guess what, 5 days later I still haven't gotten a response from them. So right now I'm extremely disgusted with Gregory (which I found out is owned by Samsonite) and their commitment to their products. I wasted my money and time on this, and I definitely don't think that if their equipment fails, the consumer should have to pay to send the product back for repair (or exchange, credit, etc.). They definitely don't support their supposed "guarantee" and I regret not purchasing this pack from REI where I know they will get it right unlike Revain (It's not Revain's fault, it's just REI , which takes care of such things for their customers ).
