Works well and is easy to install. This was my first experience of connecting anything to a car. I connected a TrekPow dash cam and a Whistler radar detector (other kit required) at the same time. I've spent time doing this, but next time I need to do it I'm sure this kit will allow me to hook up the DVR in less than 20 minutes. Plugged it into the car cigarette lighter fuse. The hardest part is figuring out which slot to put the fuse in the outlet to add a fuse. The supplied fuses are not actually fuses, but jumpers. I'm very happy with this kit and got a few extras that I definitely need for other purposes. Hyundai Elantra GT 2013 By the way, as for battery discharge protection, yes it works. During the installation process, my car battery died (it had to be replaced anyway). I went into panic mode when my dash cam turned on, then immediately turned off after initial wiring was complete and I ran a test. I started the car and went to the dealership for a new battery. Problem solved.
