Review on Corsair ST100 RGB Premium Headset Stand: Experience 7.1 Surround Sound with 3.5mm and 2xUSB 3.0 Connectivity by Keith Harris

Have used other headset stands of the same size and design but made of plastic and worth noting that this one is made of aluminium. My old headset stand, while obviously a lot cheaper, was so light that any movement of the headset cord caused the stand to move, and placing the headset on that plastic stand caused it to flex under the weight. This stand has none of these problems. . It's solid and doesn't move or flex under the weight of my headset. I didn't buy it to use the built-in sound card, so I'm not commenting or reviewing that aspect of the device. Although Windows recognized it immediately and switched audio and microphone devices which I then had to switch back. So it's good for people who want to use it for this purpose. The RGB lighting works without Corsair software, the default setting is a rainbow pattern. Since I don't own any other Corsair gear, I don't plan on installing the software needed to change the RGB. The fact that it works without software tells me that it has some sort of built-in memory that stores the lighting scheme, so I'm assuming you can install the software, change the lighting as you like, and then either prevent the software from running . again or delete. I may update this review if I should do so later. The Corsair Sail logo defaults to a white base color, which I'm fine with as all the lighting on my system is also set to white. The dual USB 3.1 ports also work flawlessly, making it seem like the entire device could work without Corsair software. Even the sound card works, as I mentioned before, because Windows has recognized it, you simply cannot adjust any settings or switch between stereo and 7.1 mode without this software. It's a bit pricey, especially if you don't want to use all the features, but its quality is worth it.
