Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Cooling and Protection: eleduino Raspberry Pi 4 Metal Case with Fan in Sleek Black Design by Jeff Leu

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Almost perfect but lost in details

I chose this case for my secondary PiHole DNS server and OpenVPN server with Raspberry PI 4. It is powered by POE with LoveRPI POE HAT which requires active cooling. I chose this case because the fan was at one end and not at the top like most other cases. The idea was that this would give me more freedom and therefore more options for the cooler. Installing the board was as easy as Pi (sorry I had to do that!). They include an extra screw for each type in case you lose them, which is nice. They also include a small screwdriver which may come in handy for some. but I already have too many of them, so I'd rather not. Why did I only give 3 stars? 1) The fan makes a very annoying howl. I think marriage or bad quality. I'll see if I can replace it with a better one as it's getting on my nerves. The fan is connected to a 3.3V rail, so the noise will probably only increase if I connect it to 5V. It would be nice if I could find a small control board that changes speed based on temperature. The one I have is quite small but runs on 12v. I used the app very quickly to find out what frequency the whining was at and it turned out to be somewhere around 4kHz. 2) The screen printing is terrible. I really don't understand why they came so close to making a beautiful case only to ruin it with unnecessary and badly typed port names. Examples: USB2. 0 and USB3. 0 (an extra space between the period and 0). The HDMI label also looks different. It looks like there was a space before I, so HDM II will see if there is a solvent that can remove the silkscreen. 3) It just looks cheap. but honestly it works fine. In any case, I don't think I'll be buying more for my other RPI4s.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • Something is wrong
