Apple Pen takes a while to charge, front camera partially covered by case

As expected except Apple Pen does not charge immediately. It's a bit strange behavior, but when I put the Apple Pen in the case, it doesn't seem to charge. After a while I noticed that it was actually charging by checking "Settings". The front camera is also partly covered by a cover (only a small part on the bottom right).
