Review on 🎧 Enhance Your Audio Experience with the Dual DV715B DVD Receiver: Built-In Bluetooth for Seamless Connectivity by Jabari Campbell

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Good budget video monitor

This product meets your expectations of dual: cheaper, but it works. No current defects have been identified during the 3 months of ownership of this product. Equalizers and advanced audio options are what you should expect from any modern dashboard receiver. As a note on installation, the wiring for GM vehicles is simple except for the lighting wire. Using a wiring harness helps, but there are two wires (marked lights/lights on the wiring harnesses) that can be used to turn the backlight on or off. This makes it a little harder to see the buttons during the day, but not too much. Reflection/blur due to sun conditions is an issue. At this price point, however, it shouldn't come as a surprise and is still manageable. The device offers a screen tilting feature, and tilting it down (towards the floor of the car, technically) is a temporary fix to a temporary problem. Bluetooth works very well, even better than the Pioneer I also own. So far there has been no signal loss or degregation. The remote control is practically unusable due to its complexity. Despite having it installed in my truck, I often just reach out to the front instead of using the remote to adjust the volume or change channels because there are just too many damn buttons on the remote. Two aspects are missing from this device: while listening to music via Bluetooth sounds decent, the way the device interacts with Pandora (or other applications) is very dated. The only options available are skip, rewind, or pause and play. There's no way to change the station or folder you're listening to, meaning you have to pull out your phone and do it that way. Pioneer does this much better by having a dedicated Source app in its head units that connects directly to Pandora and allows you to control it in any way you want (e.g. you can rate songs, change stations, post search channels, etc.). . This is NOT a problem at this price point, just a minor inconvenience. Secondly, if you want to transfer videos to this device via USB or SD card, you must be prepared for a headache. Although the product manual accompanying the device and the manual provided by DUAL Electronics on the Internet state that many formats and codes are supported, in practice the device is very demanding. I literally spent the night looking through all the supported formats available and finally found only ONE that was supported for media. Again very dated for that date and time. A side issue is that any video played over USB starts over every time; that means fast-forwarding (to a supposed 20x zoom, which is closer to 5x zoom) to manually jump back into place. The only last thing that's annoying (but doesn't really affect performance) is that the wallpaper can't be changed. It's a shame. Sure, I've used this in a budget build with the primary purpose of providing my wife with a backup camera for my truck, but it's still a bit annoying. I emailed DUAL about this but replied that the wallpaper doesn't change in any way. Not by adding SD/USB, not by connecting directly to the radio in any way, nada. To be fair, DUAL responded within 12 hours of my information request. At least when it comes to information, they are very responsive. About a month ago the touch screen of the device stopped responding and now it only responds intermittently. Unfortunately, most of the useful features cannot be easily accessed in other ways. Even using the remote control (which is also episodic) is no substitute for speed and utility. Not only would this device likely be cheaper to manufacture, but it would also be more durable if it had a regular screen and replaced the bottom display with dedicated buttons. At the time of this writing, the device lasted me less than 10 months before problems began. I'll update this review when I get a response from DUAL on a program to fix the problem.
