They are good for novice walkers but will not stand up to a toddler who is moving for 2 months and walking on harder surfaces outside and dragging feet on riding toys. I ordered 3 pairs of these shoes for my 12 month old baby (he is big for his age, almost 100% tall but I never measured his feet). Appearance: Great colors and price (nice to wear to the NBA playoffs). They're incredibly light and flexible - I like the "soft outsole" for beginner walkers so they can stick their toes out and really feel the ground (thought the extra ground sensitivity might result in a firmer footing, who knows). Function: Velcro "High Top" design prevents my son from taking off or kicking out the shoes, great! And the little loop on the heel makes a nice "horn" to help put your shoes on (but don't pull too hard, we broke the first one quickly but learned from it) Durability: a big minus! The shoes are "grazed" with every foot movement over uneven ground. A 10 minute "ride" in the slider with my son dragging his feet (he never figured out how to push the car with his feet) damaged the shoes so badly I had to throw them out. son is 14 months old we had to switch to a more durable pair - it's hard to find a lightweight shoe that doesn't cost $30 Nike!
