The Aorus X5 V7 notebook with i7-7820HQ processor and full-size GTX 1070 graphics card with 16 GB DDR4 RAM does an excellent job. ultimate graphics like The Witcher 3, The Division, Arma 3 and the new Black Ops 4. While it gets the job done, there are many unnecessary features that make me regret buying this laptop when it costs $2,500. (As of September 18, 2018, Revain is priced at $1,799.00). Unnecessary Features/Cons 1) You don't need an overclockable processor, it's not worth the extra processing speed and adds to the overall heat of the laptop (this laptop typically runs at 80-90 degrees Celsius with AAA games). a 3K, 2880 x screen resolution 1620 pixels. On a 15.6-inch screen, it's impossible to tell the difference between 1080p and 1620p in most games. (Running at a higher resolution just adds to the heat anyway) 3) The screen refresh rate is only 59.97Hz which means the max FPS you can get in any game is 60, it seems a little counterintuitive too be if you have a 3K resolution screen and a full-size GTX 1070 graphics card. The laptop has G-Sync capabilities that help with a 60fps screen, but it's better to have a 144 refresh rate screen Hz to have as an additional cost screen added due to G Sync and higher resolution. ) The laptop is REALLY HOT, in most modern AAA games the laptop (when using MSI Afterburner) shows a temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius. Which makes it impossible to play the laptop on your lap unless you want to get burned, I even bought a laptop cooler which doesn't help at all. The keyboard heats up so much that it becomes simply unbearable to play on it even on a table. The additional computing power of the i7-7820HQ processor heats up the compact design of this notebook too much. And now that the 8th generation processors have come out, the 7820HQ is simply outdated. The power supply also gets warm. I recommend leaving it somewhere away from your feet. 5) The laptop randomly shuts down within a few days of delivery (no BSOD), just randomly hangs for about 5 seconds, then shuts down completely. Assuming it's related to heat issues, there's no error message so it's impossible to tell). 6) After a year and a few weeks (only one year warranty btw) I started getting clunky BSODs and using the manufacturer's driver update utility (Aorus) is not recommended. Most of the drivers provided by the program are more than a few months out of date, freeware like iObit's Driver Booster works much better. The BSOD throws Driver Verifier DMA Violation errors and no error code is displayed, so another random failure that cannot be diagnosed. - After a fresh installation of Windows 10 and all applications. With a black metal body and only the illuminated Aorus logo on the top, it's not distracting when used in public places. 4) Despite the heat problems and temperatures that the laptop reaches, there is good standard fan control software ( Command and Control ) that allows you to maximize the performance of the fans, which will stabilize the temperature at least in the range of 80-90 C. 5) The laptop comes with detachable feet as if you know you need more.
