I love the look & feel of this pepper grinder. It's actually prettier than the pictures show. It has a beautiful design etched into it and the copper / bronze tone finish warms up any kitchen.It's easy to hold and the grip peg on the grinding handle rotates to make grinding easier. It has a good grinding size, not too fine, but small to medium in coarseness.I love that it rests in a collection bowl designed to hold the pepper once it is ground. (Although you can easily grind pepper straight from the pepper mill directly onto your food without using the bowl.) The matching spoon comes in handy for scooping the ground pepper out of the bowl as well as loading whole pepper corns into the barrel.I was a bit disappointed in the opening to load whole peppercorns. It is very narrow & if you use a 5 peppercorn blend that contains allspice or a bigger sized peppercorn, there may be some kernels that won't fit unless you manually cut them in half. The other thing I was disappointed with is that although the peppermill is shown to be either 3" or 4" in size, the grinding apparatus is located about 1/3 of the way from the top which means the barrel of the peppermill only has about 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" depth to hold the whole peppercorns. If you cook a lot or use a lot of pepper this is rather inconvenient as it will need to be refilled frequently.Despite the drawbacks of the narrow loading opening and the smaller than expected storage space for the whole peppercorns, this is a pretty high quality grinder which is easy to hold, easy to grind, and pleasing to look at.
