This was my first time using a stencil and I was pleasantly surprised. It is best to stick letters at the top and bottom with small pieces of adhesive tape. I used Rustoleum chalk paint and it worked well for the bleed. It is true that you should tap it up and down with a stencil brush to avoid smudging as much as possible and to shake off excess paint. It took a long time to separate the letters and numbers and not all of the letters and numbers matched the spacing of the top, bottom and sides so I had to cut some out to fit. For repeating letters, you can simply delete the letter directly behind the stencil and place it in the new location. I had to apply a stencil in 2 coats to make it look better. It looks like you can use them a few times before they start to tear.
