SMART USE: - For the first dose, try 1 scoop (or half a scoop if you are small or female) and drink slowly - DO NOT take with other vitamins or supplements (increases risk of niacin flush) - DO NOT combine take with other caffeine (until you know your sensitivity) - drink 8-10 glasses of water per day to stay hydrated + more if needed for workout - be aware that it can feel 'pumped' generated by increased circulation and energy (so if you don't like it, don't take it) PERSPECTIVE: I'm a former athlete and fitness trainer during my college days, currently a daily jog, part-time CrossFit and yoga enthusiast. I've been lifting weights for over a decade, drinking a lot of pre-workouts, and taking pretty much every fitness supplement ingredient on the market in one form or another. In my humble opinion, in terms of ingredients + price + availability + consistency of taste and texture, SixStar Explosion is the best out there. I think others will agree with me because when I did the research for this review I found it to be the best selling US pre-workout by units (and some sources say it's the best selling US fitness powder at 200 units of all times is sold millions). FLAVOR/TEXTURE: Fruit Punch is my favorite, but all flavors are good and mix easily in a blender bottle. If you like that quintessentially American fruit punch flavor (think KoolAid fruit punch, a sip drink and candy flavor, not a fancy authentic flavor lol) then I think you'll like this one the best too. I sometimes add vanilla protein powder when I can't eat for a while. The taste of Icy Rocket is good, but for me it had a different mouthfeel or aftertaste that took a bit of getting used to. It tastes great with vanilla protein powder + lots of ice cream, like the popsicles + vanilla ice cream we ate (or some of us ate) as kids. Combination of running and strength training. I do crossfit or yoga with friends several times a week. For me, 1 scoop of SixStar Explosion has almost as much caffeine, niacin, beta-alanine, and creatine as I need in a pre-workout. If you're a big guy, twice my weight, you might want to up your dose to 2 scoops once you know how it affects you. These other ingredients have a greater effect on women and individuals with lower body weight and lean body mass, so these individuals should be conservative in dosing. Creatine may be required to achieve optimal levels. Creatine levels depend on many factors, such as B. muscle mass, supplement dose, duration and consistency of supplementation. Beta-alanine and niacin help improve circulation, and there's evidence that beta-alanine can increase endurance, which is why they're often used in pre-workout supplements. I work in healthcare and have NEVER seen a patient with these symptoms after taking any legal supplement. However, if you are sensitive to caffeine, it is UNREASONABLE to take a caffeinated product with additional caffeine, stimulants, or stimulant medications. Additionally, this product contains niacin, which can cause mild redness, a harmless side effect of increased blood flow to the skin (which is what most people WANT before a workout). DO NOT take this product at the same time as any multivitamin that also contains nicotinic acid. I would think that's common sense, but I understand that not everyone is that experienced with supplements. Finally, some people claim that high doses of beta-alanine (LIKE this product) make them tingle, which can be the result of increased nerve sensitivity. Of course, greater sensitivity is a side effect of the overall increased pumping you've come to expect from a pre-workout. People who claim to have direct itching are cryptic as there shouldn't be a medical reason. If you experience genuine itching and inflammation after consuming any food or product, PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL HELP. True itching and inflammation is most likely an allergy. But then again I have never seen it come from this type of product and there is no medical reason for it, especially with this product. In healthcare, we believe that many "reactions" to supplements (that people entertain their friends or forums by talking about but never seeing a doctor) are "sports lore" inspired by groupthink/placebo effects. Do you know what can make you itchy? Reading reviews/stories on forums about people claiming a product made them itchy, then they took that product and waited for the itch! ;-) SUMMARY: The good news is that SixStar Explosion Pre-Workout WORKS. I often recommend it because it offers the best value for money. It contains ingredients that REALLY have a real impact on your body and help you achieve your fitness goals that most of us aspire to. You get a pump, more energy and increased blood flow. The amount of creatine in this product is enough for many of us to reach optimal levels. The flavor is good, the texture blends well, and this pre-workout can be used alone or with vanilla protein powder + 16 ounces of water.
