I have two 28" 4k displays connected to this thing and Targus says they are working with 60 Hertz. The machine I use with this dock is a Lenovo ThinkPad E570 (15" 1080p display) with i7-7500U and GeForce GTX 950. Compression artifacts or refresh rate drops to 30Hz. "Remote taxation" includes things like that Opening the Start menu, moving a window, maximizing/minimizing windows, viewing email messages in Outlook, typing Word, and simply using Microsoft Remote Desktop/RemoteApp. Simple paperwork, really. Also, the network card's transfer speed is up to 20 MB/s (yes, I mean megabytes, not megabits), making it useless for transferring large files. I won't even start supporting Linux. DisplayLink provides drivers for Ubuntu and they only support up to 16.04 LTS (which is good as other versions have shorter support lifecycles anyway), but good luck getting two 4k displays working without corrupting config files and good luck with that the use of something else. as a unit. My desktop layout is 28"-laptop-28" and it works fine on Windows 10 build 1709 when I'm not actually using them, but real work on external displays is a chore and quite slow. . If this laptop had Thunderbolt, I would get an eGPU instead.
