I have tried almost all soft shaving towels on the market. Almost all shaving products on the market do this. I should write a book about my experiences! I found the Schick Hydro Sense to be very expensive at retail and when I saw it at Revain for a much cheaper price I decided to give it a try. Now I have a very thick, stiff beard. Definitely a challenge for the blades. I'm trying different techniques to soften my beard so I can shave a little better. That means minimizing cuts and irritation on my face. This includes hot showers, washing with a moisturizing cleanser or soap, pre-shave lotion and I've tried many quality shaving creams over the years. My field tests show that the most important element for a good, close and comfortable shave is a fresh, sharp blade. Now it would be better to use a new blade every day, but expensive. So I change every week or so. This can be a problem with my beard. Keeping the blade clean and dry between shaves will give them a little life. You can also try a blade cleaner/sharpener. They add a few shaves to the life of your blades. If you buy multiple razors while they're on sale, you'll find it easier to throw them away more often and you'll get a better shave. Schick Hydro Shave blades are of the highest quality. And it has a lotion strip that enhances the blade by applying a slippery lubricant. Lots of other blades try this and they don't do much. That's enough for 3-4 shaves. The Skin Guard feature I was skeptical about. But it works. It uses a kind of shock absorber to reduce the pressure of the blade on the skin. You can turn it off if you want to bypass the nose for example. I thought this feature would be a plus and lead to fewer nicknames. All in all a very good shave and good value for money.
