Thanks to everyone who answered my question: is it possible to leave these for multicolor constant firing? No you can not. I waited to write my review until I knew for sure. I bought them for this specific function, so I'm not too happy. However, the lights work great in many other settings. I hung them on the railing to use on numerous vacations. They don't go well with the traditional twinkle lights that sit on the shelf next to them, so it looks a bit silly. The shade of flowers is slightly different from the traditional ones. But I think it's ok between the two types of lights. The lights are bright and for our superhero loving family a combination of purple and green just like the Hulk! But the lights keep moving, I can't keep a color combination on. I'm sure I'll have to play with them more, but overall a good set of ropes, I just needed to read the reviews more carefully and explore them a bit more. However, kids LOVE the different color options!
