Fast installation. If you have all the other parts you need

A trusted and loyal caravan owner is always a little happy when they get a new functional 'jewel' for their 'home'. The Husky 82084 Super Brute Electric Jack is the perfect addition to our retro Riverside camper van. The silver powertrain complements our trailer's diamond-shaped finish and looks way better than the crappy manual jack it replaces. After all, what's the point of "functional" if it doesn't look cool either! After receiving this on a Friday evening, I decided to wait until Saturday morning to install it. With a cup of steaming hot tea in hand, I opened it first the box and stared at the new device in surprise. "And then it dawned on me that I am far from ready to take on this task. Husky just sends you a jack and a circuit breaker and that's it. No plugs for cables, nothing. You need to find out All out, mate! As well as the jack itself, the Husky comes with a small bubble level (which interestingly has absolutely nothing to set it up and no mention of it). where to install it. Find out for yourself again) plus a 7th bonus plastic gadget/thing connector (which I accidentally snapped one of the straps on the spot. I don't seem to know my own strength). So, with a fresh coffee mug in hand and the words "I'll be right back," he first headed to the hardware store to get some waterproof heat shrink splices, a ring terminal, and a pack of 12-inch zip ties...whatever you need to making sure you get all your dangling wires neat and tidy (unless you're the type who likes your wiring to look like a rat's nest waiting to explode) While at the hardware store I decided also to fetch a couple of good quality stainless steel screws instead of partially rusted zinc plated screws held by an old jack. Of course I also got some touch up black paint because again you can't put a shiny new jack on a hitch that looks like a "before" photo ad on a Rustoleum ad. I went ahead and took a piece of 3M tape to install the nifty little bubble level Husky sent me (seriously guys, can't afford to shell out pennies for a 1-inch disk of mounting glue ?) Luckily my son had two jack stands on hand which I escaped with and placed under the hitch frame. In a few minutes the old jack was pulled out and added to the ever-growing pile of "things" that were hidden for no reason. in my garage. I cleaned up a bit under the old jack mount and then bolted the Husky right onto it. I decided to drill a hole in my battery cover and install a waterproof switch there as this ensured all my crimped wires would fit into the battery box and be less prone to baths. , it was a trial period: after the jacks went up, I had to stand there for at least 30 minutes raising and lowering the jack just to satisfy that innate need to play with your new toy. It worked well. I have yet to go out and try the lights on the unit at night as they don't seem to make much of a difference in daylight. Understand yourself. The Husky 82084 Super Brute Electric electric jack looks like a good piece of equipment, but only time will tell after it has undergone some road testing.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly
