Very weak. Unlike chain links and some other items, the part that opens with screws ONLY attaches to the threaded end (the wider end of the carabiner). On the other hand, it is not connected at all. So if you pull hard enough (my dog managed to attach his dog tag to the collar after a few weeks of use) the carabiner deforms and you then have a slot in the narrow end of the carabiner. This makes it pretty much useless for all but the lightest applications. This can be handy for holding keys, but is unlikely to work for holding a water bottle or anything heavy for long periods of time.
