Review on πŸ‘• Boys' Clothing and Sweaters: Gioberti Cotton Knit Cardigan Sweater by Phil Casey

Runs small and poorly tailored

This sweater's knit feels nice, but it fits much smaller than expected. A size 10 usually looks pretty big on my son, but this size 10 sweater looks like he's about to outgrow it. The buttonholes are too small for the buttons and my 7 year old son can't button his sweater because of it. The strip where the buttons and buttonholes were located was knitted separately from the sweater and sewn to the sweater on a sewing machine. It has NOT been overknitted to give the needed stretch when working with knitwear and has NOT been zigzag stitched to achieve the same goal. This creates the seam in which the button/loop tape attached to the sweater is completely inflexible and does not stretch, making the strip appear shorter than the rest of the sweater and rise at the front. Some of the threads used to sew the two pieces together also snapped (because they don't stretch due to the way they were sewn), leaving huge holes between the body of the sweater and the placket. In addition, the stripe is knitted so that the stretch is horizontal, and the sweater is knitted so that the stretch is located vertically, which contributes to the lack of stretch and tearing of the seams. Not having the original tags and receipt, I'm not sure if I can return it, so I guess I'll have to swallow this mistake when ordering. I can try removing the strip entirely with a seam ripper and sewing it on with a flexible zig zag stitch (or by hand) and see if that improves the sweater. Just a total disappointment to be honest. I wish I hadn't ordered it.
