Great for dorm or desktop.
I placed one on my daughter's desk to use the USB ports and one at the head of the bed to do the same. You can always hide them behind something, but you'll either lose the USB connectors or you'll need special cables. Low profile, angled plugs are great for not blocking a second outlet.
