ARES/RACES Gear - Radio Wiring Harnesses

I've been looking for ARES/RACES Community Service chest strap options for a while and finally settled on the Coaxsher RCP. -1 per. Haven't tried it during the day but got a feel for it on shorter walks in the area and this setup has everything I was looking for. My main HT fits perfectly in each of the radio pockets. A backup HT or FRS/GMRS or GPS radio fits perfectly in a second radio with batteries in the battery compartment. There's plenty of extra space (and dedicated areas) for pens, notepads, a small first-aid kit, and snacks. The backpack and harness also go well with my existing backpacks. The flashlight holder is a nice touch and can be moved to direct light into the "work area" of the letter foil. I prefer to use a headlamp, so I don't need this mount, but it's easy to remove. I wouldn't say that the system has any downsides, but there are some features. The radio pockets are elastic and fit very tightly on my HT (Kenwood TH-D7). I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time before I'll be pushing buttons and changing radio settings while packing my backpack. Also, the radio pockets look like they will fit almost any portable radio, but they have plenty of room for radios that are a lot longer than my HT. The extra velcro you see on the main radio in the ad doesn't wrap around anything other than the antenna on mine and doesn't really do much. As mentioned in several other reviews, the harness system feels a little small at best. I'm a typical tall man, and a backpack and straps are almost impossible to fit in a sweatshirt. On a full winter shift, or on someone with a large torso, this can make a very negative first impression. The size of the shoulder strap can be fixed simply by adding a hook and loop fastener to the hook and loop fastener, or the backpack can be directly attached to the backpack shoulder straps. Since I tend to use a backpack in situations where this can be an issue, I'll just clip the Coaxsher directly to my backpack. Coaxsher really should add an upward adjustment.
