Review on πŸ”₯ WB13K21 Replacement Igniter from the PRYSM Range by Brandon Thompson

Fast shipping, correct item

I have an old GE range and the oven started misbehaving. The strong smell of burning propane was starting to sound like one of those jet engine-style propane heaters and the burner was taking a long time to light. Upon inspection, the burner had a 1/4 inch diameter hole just above the igniter with the hot surface and some debris touched the igniter. I repaired the smaller hole in this burner 7 1/2 years ago and replaced the igniter with one I bought from AppliancePartsPros. That burner fix finally broke down on Christmas Eve and a prime rib was sitting in the fridge waiting to be cooked for Christmas. I don't live in the middle of nowhere, but you can see it from here, so I end up fixing pretty much everything, this time with a special boost provided by the main rib. I fixed the burner and it lit, but it took a minute, often longer, to light and the stove ran erratically. However, it was enough to cook this main rib. I read that slow ignition is a sign of a bad igniter so I ordered this igniter and a spare burner. Problem solved. The oven now starts up quickly. This item comes with ceramic wire nuts which I had to use. From what I understand the connector that goes on the pilot may have fitted the original range connector, but I had to cut that connector off 7 1/2 years ago for the first replacement so have no idea if it will fit. I cut the connector off the new igniter and used the ceramic nuts that came with it. They are a bit large to connect the original wire and the ignition wire, so I had to strip and twist and fold the extra wire to make the connection big enough for the wire nuts to hold. This isn't usually a big deal, but a bit of a chore if you're working in the broiler department towards the back of the area. However, I was pleased with the speedy delivery and still happy with the performance of this igniter. I hope that if you replace the burner at the same time, it will last for many years. My guess, without definite evidence, is that the hole in the burner applied too much flame to the igniter and caused it to fail. However, it is possible that the extra heat from the igniter, which is lit when the stove is on, has caused the burner material to break down and form a hole. That's my diagnosis, and it's probably worth whatever you paid for it. I am not an appliance repairer so please do not email or ask if this igniter fits XYZ model ABC range. Find your model number and serial number, find an igniter that claims to match what you have.
