A year ago I had a severe herniated disc which required surgery between the 3rd and 4th lumbar vertebrae. This is where the nerve that controls the drop foot movement of the right foot is located, so I struggled with foot drop for a long time. After three falls in one week, I decided to check my braces. I got a custom AFO from my podiatrist who rubbed and actually cut my leg so this is unacceptable. I've tried the ones that clip to your shoes and they work well but then you have to wear specific shoes indoors or buy a clip for each pair you own. I'd rather not follow the New England weather at my house :). It's perfect*. Not only is it very supportive, it's also very comfortable and you can wear it with socks, slippers, barefoot or whatever. I'll probably buy another one after this one breaks, but the excellent construction tells me it won't be any time soon.
