These nylon briefs are the way to go.

These nylon pads are very similar to the nylon pads Ethan Allen uses on his dining chairs. They work on both wood and tile floors. They replaced two different types of felt pads on my chairs - nailed and glued. The felt guides that were glued on came off after a short time and sealed the floor. The nailed nails worked well until the felt wore out after about a year of use. The order arrived on time and the product is as advertised. Tip: I drilled a 1/16" hole in the center of the leg about 1/2" deep before nailing these guides to the chair leg. This will prevent the wood from splintering, especially with hardwoods like maple or oak.
