I bought several Noctua fans (NF-A14 5V PWM) to build my own laptop cooler and they seem to make too much noise when running at 100%. The fans themselves are quiet: the sound of wind turbulence created when running at max. This controller allowed me to manually adjust the fan speed. Slowing the fans down slightly allows them to generate an acceptable amount of air movement while remaining completely silent. The controller seems to have 4 or 5 different speeds. It's hard to say as there's no indicator, but it's how it looks. One person mentioned that the controller doesn't remember its on/off status during a power outage and therefore won't restart if power is lost during operation. ran. This was not my experience. At least on my controller it remembers if it was on or off and the speed setting.
