Review on 🐒 Ultimate Protection: TurtleSkin SnakeArmor Reversible Snake Gaiters by Adam Abner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Slightly warm but light, with good protection.

I purchased a pair of TurtleSkin SnakeArmor leg guards after encountering three rattlesnakes in an hour while walking in the Sonoran Desert. I've seen many snakes in the past, but these snake encounters have taken place on groomed trails or in open water. Recent hikes have been through grass and bushes where snakes are harder to see. My height is about 5 feet 10 inches. Normal size fits me as the gaiters hit just below the knee. I have used them to attach the front grommets to the gaiter loops of my Altra shoes/boots but found it was not enough to keep the gaiters firmly attached to my shoes as I get a lot of foxtail seeds in my socks on these hikes would have. Apparently my ankle was open enough for the snake to hit that spot too. I've found that a short bungee cord works under my boots to the side sleeves to keep the gaiters in place. It was nice that the gaiters came with a matching strap/bungee. They are warm but not as hot as I expected. I usually notice them when I start to forget them. I haven't had any snake encounters with them yet, but I'm sure they will protect me. If it should happen These boots are great for traversing bushy/thorny areas. If the sides of the gaiters fit snugly inside the boot/shoes, they also do a good job of preventing foxtail and other weeds from getting into socks and shoes.
