Review on Wi-Fi router ASUS RT-AC66U, black by Agata Kowalik ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A nice option for the money, one of the best deals.

decided to buy instead of the old rt-n12c1. Devices - mobile with a range of 2.4 and 5 GHz, a system manager whistle of 300 mb, laptops of 150 and 54 mb, mini PC. I spent on changing the firmware from Merlin (40 firmware is satisfied, in the pros it is described that everything works, except for the print server, it is buggy), setting up and testing the network of the day 2. It means that I managed to check the gigabit ports only from a PC to a laptop at a speed of 710 mb / s using iperf. Alas, there is nothing more to check everything on 100 MB network cards. Further, between wifi 300mb and 150mb, the speed was about 30mb. I even started to get upset, I thought the device was defective or did not pull the declared speed, it turned out to be easier, the declared speed is in both directions, moreover, in ideal conditions, moreover, on a special one. maps, moreover, without other networks nearby, I have several networks per 1 channel and 11 channels. if you pick up, for example, 1 pci asus 68 each (2 ranges with support for mine 1900 mb / s), then at 5 GHz it can be 1100 mb / s and it will be (the connection speed will be 1300 mb / s, in fact it will fly about 80 mb / s ). On tel. 5GHz network on speedtest gives 65mb/s. A whistle of 300 MB according to the speed test gives the same 65 MB / s at 2.4 GHz. (Home Internet 80 Mb/s) I hung an external railway on the router with a speed of about 9mb / s (rw), but if you connect a computer to it, the speed is 2 times higher (18mb / s (rw)). I don't think so much less. I will still test and squeeze more out of it, but I have to admit that in the current realities of the router, there is more than enough. I am still confused in concepts, practice is an interesting and useful thing. I do not regret that I took it, I hope for a long time. I set up dlna on an external hard drive. On tel. blurry without brakes. Who wants dlna ideally I advise NAS.

Pros
  • + 2 ranges + high speed + many goodies in the form of dlna, printserver, ftp + pretty easy setup + 2 usb 2.0
Cons
  • - to get a full buzz you need to read a lot and climb the forums for a long time - as for me it sometimes freezes, but again, this is not a core i7, but a router. - warms up - usb 2.0 max speed rw 9mbps (9*8 = 72mbps from max usb 2.0 480 mbps)
