I like the nimble thimble. They're made from soft black leather, with a nail slot at the top and a hard metal disc built into the tip to protect your finger from the needle. The thimble may feel stiff and tight at first, but give it time. As you wear it, the leather stretches and takes the shape of your finger until you realize you're wearing it. It's always a good idea to use a thimble when hand sewing. The eye of the needle may not be sharp, but it can still hurt your finger, especially when sewing thick fabrics. There are many different types of thimbles: metal, rubber, rubber, leather, plastic, and even adhesive tape. You'll have to experiment with different types and sizes until you find one that is comfortable and doesn't get in the way of your sewing. To me, this is a leather Nimble Thimble, small. Initially I used medium but the skin stretched and became too loose. I got tired of it falling off every time I sewed it, so I finally bought a small one. I couldn't find the small size in any fabric store - they only seem to sell medium and large - so I was very happy to find it here. Five stars for an essential sewing tool!
