Not like before.

This has been my favorite thimble for years but the three new thimbles I bought last week are a lot worse than the ones I bought a few years ago. Unfortunately they have switched to thinner leather which wears out after just a day of quilting. Sizes also vary a lot - I bought three medium sized ones but all three vary significantly in size. One is too big, one fits as expected and the third is a little too big. Yes, in just three days I'll have my last thimble. The design is superior to…

Terrible new design

I had a small thimble from Nimble many years ago that is now too small for my finger. I thought it would be better to buy one size bigger. I'm disappointed to find that the latest version of these thimbles changed them in the wrong way. First, the average size is much larger than my small. I knit. I like to keep a few of these on hand for my public knitting. This is not my favorite leather thimble, but it can be replaced if I lose it. I went through a few of them mostly due to wear and tear. I can't say this is a bad product, it's just that knitting is not the purpose it was designed for and it shows. What happens is that when I'm knitting and I'm constantly pressing the needle with my finger, the metal tip of the needle comes into contact with a small metal disc that sits…

Large Thimble

I like the nimble thimble. They're made from soft black leather, with a nail slot at the top and a hard metal disc built into the tip to protect your finger from the needle. The thimble may feel stiff and tight at first, but give it time. As you wear it, the leather stretches and takes the shape of your finger until you realize you're wearing it. It's always a good idea to use a thimble when hand sewing. The eye of the needle may not be sharp, but it can still hurt your finger, especially when…
