I use them to roll up my sleeves. They have just enough stretch to provide the extra width you need while still holding a rolled up sleeve. The buttons on it are slightly larger than most of the buttons on my sleeves. I don't know if it's because they really are for men's shirts and I use them for women's tunics, or just the button shape they chose. I like them and think they are worth the extra cost compared to other styles. Elastic loop helps up.
