Unless you are very, very good at programming such things yourself, the frustration of understanding the tuning instructions for this machine can lead you to wanting to just give it back and start over. something else. Of course, there are multiple ways to set up your VCR, stereo, cable box, and TV, but there has to be an easier way to show you how to program a VCR. And a key step we needed to record the time was completely missing (we found that out just before I started reading the return instructions). At a point where we got really confused, I also emailed Toshiba - it took them a week to reply (and it was the wrong reply). Now that it's set up, the machine itself seems to be working fine, and programming the timer is relatively easy. Just check the patience before buying.
