Baha hard! on accessories

Our RFID UHPPOTE system controls the gate at the entrance to our campo in Baja California. When we installed it about 2.5 years ago it only had a card reader identical to this one. Since we needed two readers, we ordered a second reader. It was a different model. This is Baja, however, and she'll be quick to review the design of anything exposed to the weather. Salty air (we're at the beach), high summer temperatures, in rare cases showers. The real killer is intense sunlight. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, many modern devices fail miserably. The sun just burns them out over time. This is exactly what happened to our second reader. While it was very similar to this reader, had sealed electronics (for weather protection) and a design almost identical to this reader, it was clearly NOT as well made. Over time, sunlight faded it and cracks formed in the case, enough for moisture to seep in and fail. To replace it I ordered this UHPPOTE reader (and a second one so we have one on hand if needed) which is identical to the one that comes with our system. Our original system reader has practically no wear and tear and continues to function perfectly. I assume it will be the same with this one. As they used to say in truck ads, it's damn tough!
