This CAXIRO IPL hair removal device for women and men is suitable for sensitive skin as the maximum setting is not as hot or intense as other IPL devices I have used. The bonus is that it's very affordable! This device is an IPL laser, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It works by heating the melanin in the hair follicle to break it down. Sounds easy right? Aside from only working during the growth phase of individual hairs, you need to repeat the treatments to capture all the hairs in their growth phase. And since white, blonde, or red hair contains little or no melanin, it's not as effective for those hair colors. Finally, it cannot be used on very dark-skinned people as it is the contrast between skin color and hair color that allows light to be absorbed by the hair follicle. Therefore, people with very dark hair and very light skin have the best results. It's worth doing a bit of internet research to see if you're the right candidate. The device itself is very easy to use at home. Basically, the area to be treated must be shaved just before the procedure and a razor is included in the scope of delivery. Then protect your eyes with the supplied sunglasses. It is very important. Plug in the device and turn it on by pressing and holding the power button on the bottom of the device. You can then press the power button to cycle through the intensity settings, which are displayed on the front of the device. Select the intensity using the charts in the supplied instruction manual. Lighter skin can use higher intensities. Place the device directly on the area to be treated. You don't want it to be skewed. It should be perpendicular to your skin. Then press the large square pulse button on the front to start the beam of light. Move the laser to the next area to be treated and repeat the process until the entire area has been treated. Then apply a moisturizer or lotion. This process is painless, but if you use it at intensity level 5, the light will get warm. Doesn't burn, but very warm. Interestingly, the included instructions for use say to do treatments 1-4 every 2 weeks, then treatments 5-8 every 4 weeks, and then treatments 9 and up every 4-6 weeks. However, the product page says to treat the desired areas 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Then 2 times a week for 5 and 6 weeks. Then once a week for 7 and 8 weeks. Then every 2 weeks for maintenance. The treatment plan on the product page is the same as my other IPL devices, so I would use that one. If you use the schedule in the user manual, the results are visible forever. I suggest marking the calendar to keep track of your procedures. This product does not promise to remove all hair in the treated areas, although it certainly can. It promises to significantly reduce hair growth in the treated areas, and if you're a good candidate, it certainly will. I have dark hair that turns gray and I am a black Caucasian woman. So my results were dramatic thinning but not complete disappearance of armpit hair. I am happy with the results so far.
