I use this for a very different reason than what it was made for and it has helped me a lot. I have so-called cluster headaches, which cause me a lot of pain. The number one drug to stop an attack is oxygen. Don't know why it helps, but it helps. Unfortunately, my insurance does not cover oxygen for this use. I recently realized that it's not the oxygen concentration that stops them, it's actually the drying out of the nostrils on the affected side. At least it works for me, I can't tell for others. When I was having these attacks, I was breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth. When air gets into my nose, the pain intensifies, but the attack quickly goes away if I continue like this until the inside of my nostril is dry. Otherwise the seizure lasts for hours, which is not good for the soul. A breath through the nose was not enough to stop them as quickly as possible, because more moisture entered the nose when exhaling. Two steps forward, one step back. Then I found this little hand pump for inflating balloons and it helped even more. But it wouldn't give me constant air, only explosions. Also, I was very embarrassed to use it after feeling like an idiot and trying to explain it to everyone who saw me. People must think I'm crazy or I'm on drugs or something. So I googled the electric hand pump. In full expectation that it doesn't exist. I needed a relatively calm and not too much air. One that didn't lose charge that quickly, and I found it. For my purpose this is perfect. Also, people don't know what it is. I still feel stupid when people see me using it, but much less because of its design. It's not a soft whisper, but it's not loud either. If you have cluster headaches and are seeing this, it's worth a try. I bet you've tried everything but this one. If you've never heard of cluster headaches, you should definitely educate yourself. These are the three most excruciating pains a person can feel, maybe even the first. This is rare, but we need to be more aware of it. We are currently fighting the health insurance companies to allow the use of oxygen at home to treat this condition. It costs less than all other approved medications and treatments and is also the safest treatment. In addition to the fact that oxygen works for most patients, most of them can actually make attacks worse when drugs have a very low success rate. I know this is a ridiculous review but I'm happy with the device and that would be great because it's an intended use too.
