Review on 🧼 BISSELL Little Green 1400B: Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner by Bill Forbis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fails black light test

Pros: - Easy installation - Convenient storage of hose and cord - Containers are easy to fill and empty - Comes with a small container of Bissel cleaning solution Cons: - Bissel cleaning solution doesn't shine not being strong enough for pet stains. Replace Nature's Miracle, Genesis or similar. - The handle is more difficult to clean than similar versions of this device. - Loud but powerful suction. Hair, vacuum them first before using this machine to reduce the grip. I was so excited to get this Bissel vacuum to clean our carpets. Our dog is accident prone and it's time for a spring cleaning. I followed the instructions that came with the vacuum exactly as directed and used the recommended amount of Bissel cleaning solution that came with it. I definitely cleaned the carpet of dirt and the dirty water was brown. I went over the urine stained areas twice to make sure I had cleaned the carpet thoroughly. I waited about 24 hours for the rug to dry completely and then tested the rug with a black lamp. I was disappointed. One of the stains looked like urine had just been brushed across the carpet. The second place looked the same as before the start. No change in shape or heaviness of patch. I ended up getting a jar of nature's wonders, spraying it over the entire area I was trying to clean and wiping it off with a damp cloth. As others have noted, it is very noisy. I think it's because the vacuum cleaner sucks well. I will abandon the vacuum cleaner because I see that it will be useful for cleaning stairs and upholstery (especially for a car, which I will do). As for pet stains, I think you need to either use more cleaning solution than the instructions recommend or replace it with a stronger cleaning solution (like Nature's Miracle, Genesis, etc.). Another thing to note is that by the time I finished cleaning, a lot of dog hair and carpet lint ended up in the handle. I've seen some other models have handles with a removable clear plastic piece so they can be cleaned, but mine is either very difficult to remove or not meant to be removed. I'll probably buy some sort of bristle brush to keep it clean, but then again this is another thing you have to buy to service/maintain it.

Pros
  • Nice looks
Cons
  • Some flaws
