Most laptops these days have a built-in camera, located at the top center of the screen. I have two laptops and both have it. Now we also know that hackers can access them (and the microphone) and activate them without your knowledge. You can also accidentally activate the camera during a work conference, which can sometimes be problematic. So the simple solution is this tiny piece of plastic. You stick it on and you can put on the camera lens cap when you need some privacy. It works fine on my regular work laptop. Unfortunately, my ultra-light and thin LG Gram (an amazing laptop, btw) has the advantage of being too narrow for this case, so I can't use it unless I manage to shave it off a bit. Bottom line: I really recommend it if the ridge between your screen and the top is at least 3/8 inch. approx. 2 mm.) In the end it is still worth 4 stars to me.
