As others have said, these spoons somehow encourage your baby to suck food from the spoon, which is why I bought them. That's exactly what my son did the first time I used a spoon. The spoons seemed to give him more control over what and how much he ate rather than me just putting food in his mouth. He was never a fan of mashed potatoes, but these spoons helped him eat! win for me! I will say they don't hold much food so if you scoop too much it will make a mess. It seemed these spoons were only really good for puree, but they don't work that well for food that's more akin to a canteen. Now he's 10 months old and these spoons seem to be too small for him so I don't use them anymore which is a bit frustrating as they were expensive.
