Printer works well overall. However, the setup was very tedious when it came to setting up the printer for scanning. It didn't help that neither the manual that came with my brother nor the online manuals for the printer really solved the problem I was having with saving documents to file over a local USB connection. It took about 20 minutes of surfing the web to find out that you should download the wireless scanning software package and not just optional. That's the only reason I deducted a star. However, once you have everything set up, everything will run smoothly. Overall, the installation took me about an hour. It may be due to my inexperience with printer setup, but I wouldn't say it's 100% user-friendly in that sense. includes USB and Wi-Fi which is a bit misleading unless you do further research to understand what that means or study the specs in detail (which is a mistake I made). But with the wireless print and scan option, it doesn't matter and isn't necessary. This printer also gives you the option of using a local USB cable for printing/scanning, but strangely none is supplied. Luckily I had one of my old brother's printers. Also, many in the reviews complain about the image quality of photos (like on real photo prints). If you are looking for a printer that prints good quality photos, this is not the printer for you. Just because the description doesn't specifically say you can't do it doesn't mean you have to do it or that it will work. If you need a printer of this quality, be sure to include it in your search and don't just pick a random printer that you think would be good for the job. Since this printer uses toner cartridges, even when it's low, you should technically still be able to keep printing unless the printer itself stops you. I've done this before with my old Brother monochrome printer, it's still been idle for months and my daughter has been using it extensively since she went to college. Overall I think it's pretty good for basic home use at this price point. I recently bought this printer, hope it lasts a long time! (And yes, I'm actually a normal person looking at this :) )
