Review on πŸ” Astromania 1.25-Inch Metal Collimating Cheshire Eyepiece - Long Version for Newtonian Reflector Telescope by Scott Hall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

View too narrow for 10 " Newtonian

Long version: The field of view of the long version is too narrow for my 10" f/4.7 Newtonian telescope. The field of view is so narrow that I can't see all 6 clips of the main mirror at once, so the collimator doesn't work for me. The build quality of the device makes a solid impression. This can work for Newtonians with focal lengths greater than 4.7. Short version: I also tried the short version, but the device was defective. Seen from the peephole, the reticle was not in the center of the field of view, although it looked centered from the opposite end. I think this misalignment was caused by misalignment of the 45 degree bright metal insert in relation to the tube. The offset was too great to be acceptable.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • I say nothing
