Review on 🧵 12 Pack YEQIN Bobbins for Bernina 0115367000-B by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is not a genuine Bernina coil but is mostly functional.

I ordered these because the Bernina dealers near me couldn't order spools online without calling. In the midst of the COVID shutdown, this was a real concern. Pros: - cheaper than real Bernina bobbins - could easily be ordered online - the ones that didn't bend worked in my machine with no skipped stitches. Cons: - it felt different. I weighed them and they were the same weight but there were small differences that were somewhat important. The metal on the sides was less thick and all of my coils were slightly warped on the sides due to the way they were packaged. The two bobbins were so bent on the sides that they could not load the thread because they were rubbing so hard that they could not turn the bobbin winder. One by one, each of them had their own little sound. No two are the same. I can't prove or swear to it, but I think they are unevenly balanced because they weren't machined to spec but were dip machined to finish them. As a result, they sound "a little off the mark" in the car. In general, next time I will try to find original Bernina coils. Genuine Bernina coils are polished metal to specification and have been chrome plated to compensate for the use of less metal. If money is absolutely critical then yes you could get away with it if not too much wasted on the bend that comes in the package. Can't say they're terrible because 10 out of 12 worked, but you're paying for quality when you buy the original. I've shown a few pictures so you can see the difference in recoil, texturing and spindle warping. /fold edges.
