I've read other reviews that suggest they were used for skill training. Well in my case I gave it to my kid because he kept breaking cheap wooden swords. That's a beast. He can't punch, cut, and practice his "skills" with him. Yes, this is probably not suitable for parents who pay attention to age labels on toys. However, for parents who are tired of spending money on toys that keep breaking, this is for you. The "blade" is a rubber that is stiff but has some flexibility. If you hit him, you most likely won't hurt the skin, but you will likely get a bruise. The bruise would have been due to having some weight on their backs. The pointed end can be a little dangerous if you have two feral kids fighting over it, but as long as they just focus their energies on trees and other objects, they'll be fine. The rubber blade is placed between the arm and secured with a nut and bolt. They're going nowhere and are hard to break. The plastic handle is also solid and would take some serious carnage to break.
