Built-in little garlands are a clever idea; I hope more manufacturers start doing this as it adds complexity. I have many simple shimmer sets and the light wrapped around the wax really makes a difference when looking at them from side to side. I like that the remote has a brightness control that helps extend battery life. The timer on the remote works well; They come on and off after the four hours I set them to. Just prepare them and when you need time, turn them on and press the timer button for the desired time. They will flash to confirm. I had to change the batteries after about a month of use (I have another set of these that I've had for a while) but as the candles only use two AA batteries instead of the usual three or four, and the extra string lights that is not the case. Too bad. It would be even better if they were recycled to use 4 AA batteries - my flickering candles that use 4 AA batteries can run 5 hours a day for 2-3 months which is great as I hate to change batteries.
