Review on 🌧️ Ultimate Protection in Style: Peak Design Black Shell Medium Form-Fitting Rain and Dust Cover by Vedavyas Fleming

I love other Peak Design products but not this cover.

If you are thinking about this, please be aware that you cannot control the camera when the case fully protects it. You need to fold the back panel up to reveal the camera body, take a photo, and then fold the back panel down. When I bought this product, this experience was not entirely obvious. Maybe I didn't do enough research, so I take some of the blame. However, marketing and images give the impression that the camera body has some protection when shooting, but I found it almost impossible to operate the camera, without opening the case completely. Even after admitting that I should bare my body, the process of detaching the cable, flipping the back cover over and trying to use the camera controls with the case is quite cumbersome. On a recent trip I tried using the case for a few rainy days with the Sony A7III and I just couldn't get it off smoothly. The camera is "weatherproof" but is known to have an imperfect seal around the hot shoe and the battery door that opens when this case is used. In the end, I simply covered the weak spots with tape, tucked the camera under my rain jacket when not in use, and briefly exposed the entire camera to take photos. This worked much better for me. I have many other Peak Design products and am very happy with them. Slide Lite and Cuff are magical products that finally put an end to my search for the perfect harness system. Seriously, you should buy these products if you don't own them. But this $50 briefcase was an expensive trinket that would likely be left at home.
