I replaced a good Panasonic 2.4Ghz phone with this phone. The range is 100 feet longer than the Panasonic. Setup is easy: plug in batteries, plug in devices, and let them charge. Date, time, news machine will be set automatically and ready. You don't have to do anything unless you want to personalize your answering machine greeting. Phones are light and small, with comfortable buttons; and having 4 units is pretty handy. I bought a couple of expansion phones ($18) because the 5 unit system is over $30 more. Regarding the (2) negative comments: 1.) Short battery life? Store phones in chargers when not in use. If you have a very long conversation, go to another device and switch handsets (you have 4 of them). 2.) Can't add tubes? Actually you can. Simply top up the additional handset and follow the simple instructions to register it.
