Overall it works but the lock is broken

So overall the product works well and I enjoyed trying it on my trip to the mountains. However, the locking mechanism was very tight and would not close. I managed to unclip it and get it to work on one of the bars but not on the second. I tried playing with another one (I tried not to break it as it's plastic) but it's completely stuck and won't block. After paying so much for the rack I expected it to at least work as advertised because that's what I paid for.
