Review on JOILCAN Carbon Professional Monopod Carrying by Dave Connelly

Revainrating 5 out of 5

By far best in class

This review is for the Joilcan 81" Aluminum Tripod (H80; note that this model's reviews section contains reviews of other Joilcan models). I was looking for something sturdy with possible little plastic that folds down to a short length and weighs less than my large tripod. I also wanted a tripod that converts to a monopod. I contacted the company (fast, great service!) to find out how this model is being built and am very happy that it does everything I wanted it to do.The only plastics that can be found are the leg extension locks (which are very strong), with the main riser, leg heads and crank arms and every part of the Head mechanism (ball, buttons and two camera plates) everything is metal (everything seems to be anodized aluminum) The system of conversion i A monopod is very well constructed: the padded leg unscrews from the head and then attaches to the center stand and head with a heavy duty metal screw and threaded inserts. The legs are topped with strong metal tips with heavy rubber caps that snap onto them. The legs also fold as little as any regular tripod I could find, they can be tilted to different angles for more height and stability, and this model easily attaches to my backpack without protruding in anything. It even comes with a soft, snug fitting, durable nylon pouch. I am very happy with the materials, build quality and many features of this tripod.
