I rent so wanted to use the sticky option. I wasn't thrilled to use them anymore because they have a big plastic lip in the middle that keeps the shelf from sitting flush with the wall, but I decided to give it a try. I can always delete them, right? I measured, but somehow I deviated a little, and the shelf did not rise. I decided to just remove them and use the command bars instead. I tried my best but they must have used industrial glue because even in slow motion huge chunks of paint ripped off. The second (bigger) stain was after trying to heat it with a hair dryer and loosen the adhesive (according to Google), which ended up making things worse. Remember the pillows were only on the wall for a few minutes before attempting to remove them. I removed them (and part of the wall) and decided to hide my mistakes with a shelf. I've used command strips (12lb flat black velcro) and they worked great. Well, if I decide to move I'll have to try and patch the paint, but at least it's (mostly) hidden. The stand itself is pretty good. Very strong metal, but very small. I was hoping the shelf would be deep enough to fit a sunglass case, but no luck.
