UPDATE: After airing for 7-8 days, the paint smell was very strong. We returned the shelves with a full refund. I love the overall look and color of these shelves for my daughter's room. They were relatively easy to assemble. Unfortunately, there are two major problems: 1) Most picture books don't fit: When we started arranging books on shelves, we found that most vertically oriented picture books wouldn't fit on the bottom two shelves. At that point we already had the shelves installed and it was too difficult to send everything back. We ended up putting the big books on top (not sure where they could fit). I ended up placing some books horizontally instead of vertically. They stick out like a sore thumb and the overall picture becomes chaotic once the books are on the shelf. 2) Very Strong Paint Smell: When assembling the shelves, we opened the windows to let the smell in and assumed the strong smell was due to the shelves being full of boxes. The assembled shelves have been standing for over 48 hours and you cannot enter our daughter's room. All the windows were open during the day to ventilate the room, we have a fan blowing on the shelves. and it still smells awful. She has been sleeping in our room for a few days as even I get headaches in the room.
