I came across this product when I saw a similar mount in a friend's car. I was happy to use our "useless" CD player back in 2012 to mount my newly purchased 10.5" iPad Pro. There are several issues. First, the metal pins inside the swivel mechanism are pushed in too far, causing one side to slip out from under the pan head screw that holds it in place during use, causing the whole thing to fall apart if disturbed. After about a dozen attempts to take it apart and tighten it, and it kept happening, I finally tried the pins prying them out a bit with pliers to keep them from slipping out easily. This solved the problem. I wish I had tried this sooner, I was expecting them to be glued on. Second, the big problem was that the magnet just wasn't strong enough to support the advertised weight of the iPad. At first it seems to hold up, but sometimes the slightest bump in the road causes it to fall. Unfortunately, this has to ei a small damage to the metal frame of my iPad. At this point I decided it's better not to continue using it to avoid getting a cracked screen. On the other hand, my wife's Galaxy S8+ holds up well. I can experiment with adding more magnets. to give it more holding power. This is indeed a potentially great mounting solution, it just needs more strength for tablets.
