Review on πŸ–±οΈ Fellowes 9175101 Graphite Gel Wrist Rest and Mouse Pad with Microban Protection - 10.1 x 6.8 x 0.9 inches by Ronnie Saylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good pad, but inferior to previous version

Unfortunately, this latest version of the Fellowes wrist and mouse pad has reduced the best mouse pad ever to a pale shadow of its former glory. Okay, that was a little dramatic, but it's true. The same mouse pad I bought a few years ago was perfect. Sizing was spot on and the palm rest was a wonderful fabric-covered gel with just the right amount of spring. I develop software for over 8 hours every day and this original tablet has allowed me to do it without hurting my wrist. At first glance, the latest version of the tablet looks identical, the size, shape and color of the fabric are the same. above the wrist is the same. Unfortunately, the Fellowes designers completely changed the interior of the wrist pad. Instead of the earlier 3/4 inch thick sponge miracle gel pad, they've incorporated a hard plastic dome that appears to be covered in about 1/4 inch of gel. I can only assume that this was for one of the following reasons: 1) Gel is a very expensive substance and reducing the amount of gel in the pad saved them pennies. 2) They wanted the wrist pad to be permanently attached to the pad's plastic base and this allowed them to do so. 3) They were fed up with the best mouse pad and wanted other brands to beat mouse pad ratings for a while. much harder (uncomfortably harder) at medium to high pressure. I can no longer give this carpet an unreserved recommendation. Fellowes recently made similar changes to other products that are amazing. Making mediocre versions of the old, really great computer accessories and tools. This is frustrating for computer professionals like me who rely on stable and quality trading tools.
