The only tool that works for what I do.
I use colored pencils as my medium. I've found that you can create a great design element by drawing indented lines where the paint doesn't go. They are perfect for this as a variety of sizes create different sized "grooves" and the smoothness of the spikes/beads won't tear my paper.
